The Lesson

The Best lesson that I have learned has been that I can not always go where I want to go on my timming. Its not up to me but external factors like the weather, crew, boat… I can have an idea and then work with the weather, crew and boat to get there. But it will never be on my terms or as I had planned because weather wont permit, or a crew member will need a break or something on the boat will break and we will have to stop to repair. So DONT MAKE A FIX PLAN, JUST KNOW YOUR DESTINATION, and surrender during the process because you will be miserable if you dont, and it could even be dangerous.

This applies 100% to normal life! Important to have a clear goal (destination), but then just play with the wind, the people around you and the tools you may have. But dont try to make it YOUR WAY, because you will just struggle, get frustrated, wont enjoy the journey to the goal and most likely even give up before you reach your “destination”
